Ministry of the Word
According to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), “the lector is instituted to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. [The lector] may also announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer and, in the absence of a psalmist, recite the Psalm between the readings.
Serving as Lector at Mass is truly a rewarding experience. The lector plays such an important role in helping people to feel the presence of God through the holy words of Scripture. Not only does being a lector bring great joy and a deeper closeness to God, but it also provides an opportunity to meet and interact with so many other wonderful parishioners. If you are looking for a way to be a more active member of the Parish community and to feel the power and majesty of God’s Word, please consider inquiring about and possibly becoming a lector at St. John the Evangelist or St. Thomas Aquinas Parishes.
Please call St. John's Parish Center at 781-593-2544 to learn more about this Ministry and explore how to become involved.
