Notice:
On January 18, 2024, Cardinal Sean O’Mally announced a change in Archdiocese policy for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation to the 8th grade, around the age of 13-14.
The parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston have 2-3 years to implement this new policy.
We will accomplish the total change for St. John’s and St. Thomas parishes in the next year:
The Religious Education classes of the 9th and 10th grade (of September 2024) will attend the same class monthly and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation together in April or May of 2025.
The 8th classes (of September 2024) will meet weekly on either Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 7 PM-8 PM and will be Confirmed in September 2025.
In the future, all Confirmation classes will be in the 8th grade.

Religious Education Program
The primary purpose of the St. John the Evangelist and St. Thomas Aquinas Religious Education Program is to provide our children and adolescents with faith-based learning opportunities that promote ongoing faith formation, provide spiritual encouragement, and deepen an understanding and practice of what it means to be a Catholic in our world today.
As always, parents are the primary educators of their children, and our Religious Education Programs serve to support and enhance their important mission.
The programs incorporate meaningful learning experiences designed to inform, guide, and celebrate an understanding of the Catholic faith. Children actively participate in prayer, worship, and service to others while continuing to develop their own personal relationship with God.
Please call St. John's Parish Center at 781-599-4711 to learn more about this Ministry and explore how to become involved.
